And he said take my hand
Live while you can
Don't you see your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand
In the palm of your hand...

Name: Hannah Mae Abbott
Birthday: 31 December, 1979 (25)
Blood: Halfblood
Former house: Hufflepuff [1991 - 98]

Sexual orientation: Heterosexual
Marital Status: Single

Nationality: English
Hometown: Godric's Hollow, England
Residence: 220 Euphoria Lane, 4B (with Liz Spinks)

Occupation: Florist at Green Expectations
Financial Status: Lower middle class. She has enough to make rent and groceries and doesn't spend lavishly. In fact, she tries to save money in an effort to have it "for a rainy day."
Political Affiliation: "Why can't we all just get along?" Those are Hannah's beliefs in a nutshell. If it were up to her there would be no conflict in the world and they would honestly run around in fields of sunshine and daisies. However, that is a world she hasn't seen quite yet although she believes that the Ministry is headed in the right direction.

Social stereotype: The People Pleasing Florist

Personality: Hannah is a sweetheart. She is incredibly loving and caring and despite her twenty-three years also very innocent. She thinks the very best of everyone despite any kind of hints or actual facts that tell normal people that they ought not give them a chance. In fact, Hannah tends to give second, third, and fourth chances to people even after they have burned her one, two, three times in the past. She has a hard time believing that people can be influenced to do bad things and wants to think that after they make a mistake they will actually learn from it. She is also a bit gullible, but thankfully she isn't nearly as bad as she was in Hogwarts. Despite all of that, though, her friendly and charming nature draws people to her and she's never at a loss for friends.

Hannah can't stand it when people are fighting, especially friends and family. She tries very hard to be a peacekeeper, but usually only ends up getting hurt in the process. She wants very badly to understand people but has trouble figuring it out unless they are blunt, which can lead to hurt feelings.

Hannah wants to help everyone. She will go to great lengths to do something for someone, even if she doesn't know them very well. The same goes with saying no to people - she just plain can't. She tends to be a bit of a doormat and will put other people's needs in front of her own. She doesn't really realize it when someone is using her, but if it is pointed out to her or she figures it out she gets mad. She has a limit and once it is crossed she gets very angry and unbending.

Easily swayed by what the majority might think and do, Hannah has a bad habit of picking up conformist tendencies. This has gotten better since the end of the war, but during Hogwarts she would hear a rumor or find out what a friend thought on a certain situation and she would almost always go along with it and agree. This was most evident when during her fourth year when she happily sported Cedric badges against Harry Potter, which was partly out of House loyalty but also out of how dare Harry Potter cheat!

Hannah wants more than anything to be the best, but she is easily distracted. She has a hard time really dedicating herself to just one thing as her mind tends to jump around so easily. She tries really hard, though, so when she does jump or fail at something it hurts. She does not like to let people down and she is convinced that her friends and family want her to be the best, so when she fails at that it breaks her a bit. She panics easily under pressure and does not handle stress well at all. When she feels overwhelmed it takes very little for her to break and get emotional.

Childhood: John Abbott was the only son of James and Marlene Abbott and they couldn't have asked for a better son. He was intelligent, athletic, and a caring person. He was a Gryffindor at Hogwarts and was not only on the Quidditch team, but also became a prefect and Head Boy while he was there. After school, he walked in his own father's shoes and went into Auror training. Before long, John was a well-known Auror with a bright future ahead of him.

Things were going well for John until he went on a particular mission in the summer of 1973. While he doesn't completely know what happened, he woke up a week after the mission in a Muggle hospital in the heart of Edinburgh, which was not far from where he grew up. The first person he saw was Emily Winthrop, who was changing bandages on his arm at the time as she was his nurse. John wasn't able to leave the hospital for another week due to the nature of his injuries and in that time he fell head over heels for Emily, who had began to switch rounds and shifts with other natures in order to spend time with him. Once he was discharged, they began dating and within six months John had proposed and the two were married three months later.

Of course, John was an intelligent man and told Emily early on about his magic. She was shocked and a bit confused about all of it, but from what she could tell John was a wonderful man that made her feel something she had long since given up on finding. The two struggled through life as a wizard and a Muggle trying to get by without too many mishaps but at the end of the day they were both so madly in love that it didn't even matter that they were different.

Almost a full five years after they had been married, they welcomed their first child into their life - Hannah Mae. From the first moment he held his daughter, John was completely and utterly wrapped around the tiny girl's pinky. As she began to grow up, he was the first to run in the middle of the night if she would cry because she was hungry or later on if she had a nightmare. He coddled the girl to no end, which both amused and frustrated Emily as she tried to keep their daughter from being too spoiled. When Hannah was three, they welcomed their second child into the family. Luckily for Isaac, John was just as devoted to making sure his son was happy as he was his daughter and spoiled them equally.

That spoiling didn't go to Hannah's head, however. It became rather evident as she grew older that she was a sweet and loving girl that took being the older sister as a very important job. She loved spending time with her mother (especially when they would bake) and ate up all of her father's stories from work (even pretending to believe his more embelished stories). All in all, she was growing to be a very sweet young girl and when she turned eleven and received her Hogwarts letter, Emily and John weren't worried in the least for how their little girl would end up.

Hannah was easily sorted into Hufflepuff and she quickly made a great deal of friends there. Most important would be the friendship she would grow to have with Liz Spinks. The two of them are different in so many ways, but somehow that made it even easier for them to become best friends at that very young age. While Hannah would make many friends over the years, she never held anyone quite as dear as Liz.

As school went on, Hannah tended to find herself swept up and going along with the crowd a great deal. In her second year, she was convinced (along with a great deal of others, she points out now) that Harry Potter was the Heir of Slytherin. In her third year, she was scared enough by the rumors of Sirius Black that she would avoid all shrubbery after hearing that he could turn into one. Come fourth year, she proudly donned a Support Cedric Diggory! badge, but the mourning she took part in after his death was definitely not just because her friends were crying as she was moved by the boy as much as the rest of the school had.

It was in her fifth year, however, that things really started to change for Hannah. Not only was she made a prefect, she also joined Dumbledore's Army during the tyranny that came with Dolores Umbridge. At first she was wary, but at the thought of upcoming OWLs and the very scary sorts of things that were happening outside of the castle she warmed up to the group. The preparation, however, didn't keep her from having a few panics as the year went on and OWLs loomed in the future. She found herself in the Hospital Wing at least once a week and progressively more as they came closer. She doesn't even talk about her Transfiguration practical which ended in a huge flock of flamingos.

Hannah's sixth year brought tragedy when she received word that her mother had been killed by Death Eaters. The reason was quite obvious given John's place in the world and Emily's Muggle heritage. Both Hannah and Isaac had been at Hogwarts when they received the news and when they returned home they found their father quite broken. Although he gave them the option to return to school, Hannah decided instead to stay home while Isaac went back after the funeral. Sixteen was a very early age to take on the responsibilities that her mother had taken, but when her father eventually resigned from his position at the Ministry, it seemed rather necessary. Eventually, however, Hannah's paternal grandmother moved into the Abbott home which allowed Hannah to return to Hogwarts for her seventh year.

Returning to Hogwarts was one of the hardest things she had done, but she knows it was the smartest thing to do. Hannah's confidence had grown during the months away and she began to show that as the year went on. She was happy to realize that she could speak up now and again to let her opinions be known - and she didn't panic when they differed than others. These moments didn't come all too often, but when they did she felt a great sense of pride.

War involvements: Once she finished school, Hannah decided that it was best to stay as far away from the war as she could. She saw what it was doing to her father and she felt that she had no other choice other than to stay home and take care of him with the aid of her grandmother. She began to work full-time at a Muggle florist shoppe that was near where they lived in order to always be near in case she needed to rush home. After two years of living like that, however, she knew that it was a bad spiral for both herself and her father and something had to be done about it.

When the war finally ended, Hannah was beyond ecstatic. She felt as though she could truly be at ease again, even if it did little to heal her father. After some persuading, however, he did finally agree to find himself a job. He went back to the Ministry and he accepted an instructional position for Auror trainees. It wasn't the same as his old occupation, but he wasn't the same man and he felt it was for the best. Hannah was happy to see him doing something other than sitting at home staring at the Muggle television for hours on end. She was certain that they were finally healing as a family when Isaac finished school and opted to attend Muggle University rather than working straight away.

It wasn't until 2003, however, that Hannah really felt comfortable leaving home. Her father was doing much better and he insisted that she finally go out and live for herself rather than trying to keep him in order. Convinced that he was going to be all right, Hannah very excitedly agreed to get a flat with Liz on Euphoria Lane. She took her years of florist expertise to Cultivation (which is now Green Expectations) to work with Neville Longbottom. Now, over a year later, Hannah is quite content with the life that she has - especially now that it is her life.
